I get compliments when I wear either of these colors, so I thought I’d try them together since the print of the scarf ties into both.

Saw this camel and orchid color combination in the April InStyle and loved it.
Very work appropriate, but the little pop of color makes it me!

I stumbled out of bed this morning and as I was standing in my closet, blinking from the bright overhead light, this sweater jumped out at me, so I obliged. Styled this way it reminds me of Dolce & Gabbana’s ladylike leopard pairings.
My very stylish co-worker friend {who inspired the *Gray Matter colors} said she loved my sweater and asked where I got it and if it was recently. She was surprised when I told her it was from Wal-Mart. Actually, the majority of my outfit today is from Wal-Mart.  My sister says she can’t believe a girl who loves fashion shops there, but it’s accessible—geographically, three minutes door to door, and fiscally, I work at a non-profit after all!
You can also see my haircut in this shot. I went last night and the Aveda student did a great job shaping it up and blending my bang mistake into my layers. I wish it would stay this sleek and bouncy forever.  You can’t beat a professional blow-dry!

*Paisley meets Utility

Jacket: Hand-me-down
Dress: Ross
Cami: Sam’s
Flats: Faded Glory
Eyeglasses: Coach

It was my goal to do the daily threads shots outside this week, but it’s storming again today, so a silk tree will have to do. Shooting in the lobby of my office suite garnered questions and weird looks.

Do you ever buy an article of clothing even though you aren’t sure if you’ll ever wear it and then end up wearing it once or more a week EVERY week? That’s this cardigan for me. It brings every outfit together, magically.

Sweater: Thrifted
Skirt: Borrowed
Flats: Dexter
Eyeglasses: No Boundaries
Pearl bracelet: Claire’s
Rhinestone bracelets: Target
I keep reading that maxi skirts are an “it” piece for spring, so I’m glad Jen held on to this one from high school. I think it’s one of maybe three long pieces I have in my closet, everything else is at the knee.
And the stack of bracelets reminds me of Madonna’s “Material Girl” video,
all I need is a pair of long pink satin gloves.

I snuck these photos after coming in to work from the airport. If I’d been home when I was getting dressed I would have added a brooch, or three, maybe a pearl strand, and curled my hair; but I was getting ready at 5 a.m. in my Grannie’s guest bathroom…so there you have it.
I had packed a striped boyfriend sweater to wear with the top and pants, but bought this Chanel-esque blazer (love the chain detail!) yesterday at Kohl’s and didn’t want to endanger it by cramming it into my suitcase. On the plane I was reading Fifty Dresses That Changed The World and it made me smile that the Chanel suit was the number 9 dress.
